TORONTO — Brett Lawrie’s return to the Blue Jays’ lineup made it through all of three innings before they was removed from Tuesday night of 9-3 loss to the Orioles because of hardness in his lower back.
Lawrie was stimulated off the 15-day disabled list prior to series opener against Baltimore. They hadn’t played since he or she fractured his right forefinger in Cincinnati on June 25.
The back wasn’t an issue throughout his recent rehab assignment along with Class A Advanced Dunedin, but it really became a problem in his initially game back. Lawrie noticed a few discomfort during batting process and it continued through the beginning of the series opener.
‘It seemed to be kind of just grabbing on me as I was heating,’ Lawrie said. ‘The more My spouse and i went about my business in what I used to be trying to do it was including, all right, something in there is bugging me and I greater take care of this before it gets serious. … This is the first game back. I don’t want to make it permanent that I don’t end up being back.’
Lawrie is considered day to day and stays optimistic that the injury is not serious. To be safe, though, he has been scheduled to undergo an MRI about Wednesday morning which should understand the main cause.
Toronto can only hope that Lawrie doesn’t have to miss an extended stretch of time. His return was ultimately some positive news for an organization that has been without the services involving Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind since prior to the All-Star bust.
Before the game, Lawrie talked to reporters about how excited he was to return to their office in the middle of a push with the postseason. Hours later, he had been forced to talk about yet another injuries.
‘I want to take care of this and obtain back because ultimately most I want to do is go out there and play,Inches Lawrie said. ‘My whole mentality concerning getting here today had been trying to fly under the deal with of the radar, go out presently there and play like I never even missed a overcome.
‘It’s just frustrating for myself that I had to take the high route and get out of there and also take care of my business as much as I didn’t want to.’
Lawrie originally was likely to require at least a week involving rehab games in the Minimal Leagues. In the end, he came out in three games for Dunedin before getting pulled from the collection Monday afternoon so he could make the trip to Higher toronto.
The 24-year-old went 4-for-10 in his three activities for Dunedin. He also had a increase, scored three times, walked double and struck out two times. Under normal circumstances, Lawrie probable would have continued his rehabilitation at Double-A or Triple-A, but with Toronto at a crucial point in their schedule, Lawrie was needed now.
If there’s any talk about Lawrie coming back again too early from the injury, Glowing blue Jays manager John Gibbons attempted to finish it right away. He has been quick to point out that although Lawrie was on the DL for an estimated six weeks it was with an harm that allowed him to carry on working out.
‘If we was around the DL for an injury to his body it might be a little different, nevertheless it was his finger,Inch Gibbons said. ‘He has been running around for six weeks now. I’d be very surprised if that got anything to do with it. Plus, he’s what? 24? 25? He’s not Raul Ibanez out there. He retains in great shape.’
In some positive announcement, Lind is nearing a return for the Blue Jays’ lineup. He is likely to go on a rehab assignment yearly couple of days, which means he could be returning at some point this weekend vs. Detroit or perhaps Monday in Seattle.
Encarnacion is going to take longer than that. He is timetabled to resume running in the future but still needs to see a lots of progress in his strained correct quad muscle before receiving wholesale for a rehab assignment.
‘Lindy begins a rehab in the next couple of days, and Eddie, it’s still hard to point out,’ Gibbons said. ‘I think next couple of days he’ll start working again, he’s hitting, but exactly how long? I don’t know.’
